Best laid plans…
I had planned to finish up the painting around the house, pack up some unused items for when we do actually get to move, clear off some To-Do stuff from my extremely large To-Do list, attend the Ren fair and a couple of friends’ graduations. That was the plan. Then I got wammied with a bug of some kind. I’ve been down and out for more than three days now. My head hurts. My eyes hurt (maybe I should stop reading and let them rest…no. That’s not it). My tummy does not like the smell of any kind of food (not even Starbucks… WTH!!!). To sum it up, I’ve felt like total crapola this week…sniff…sniff…cry…cry…
Now that I’ve had my little pity party, let me tell you about some fun stuff I do have coming up. The 25th through the 31st I’m participating in a fun Splash Into Summer Giveaway Blog hop. This is my first time participating in a blog hop, but I think it will be a hoot. Of course there will be prizes to win, so how could it not be…grin…
Stop back by on Wednesday for the “official” kickoff and be prepared to Hop, Hop, Hop if you want to enter to win some awesome prizes (I think there will be around 300 blogs participating… Yikes, that’s a LOT of hopping AND prizes). Everything is easy peasy so don’t stress about the rules.
I’m blogging over at Petit Fours and Hot Tamales about Making Time for Family on Thursday the 26th. I’ll be giving away a prize there that is separate from the blog hop, so make sure and stop by for a chance to win.
Okay, my comfy couch is calling my name. Before I go, I’m posting a list of some of the blogs I ran across this week that stopped me long enough to enjoy their content. I found this idea through social media guru, Kristen Lamb. If you haven’t already read her book, We Are Not Alone – A Writer’s Guide to Social Media, you are truly missing out.
Weekly Mash-Up
What a week around the blogosphere. Lots of good stuff. I read an interview with author A.C. Crispin about her new book, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Price of Freedom. This is a story about Capt Jack Sparrow BEFORE the Pirates of the Caribbean movies when he was much younger AND a “clean-cut merchant seaman pursuing a legitimate career as a first mate”. Yowza! As a huge Pirates fan, I so can’t wait to read this.
If you are interested in a chance to pitch your story to Agent Jenny Bent with the Bent Agency, check out the blog Musetracks. They have a monthly feature called Agent Shop where you ONE DAY to submit 200 words or less and have the opportunity for that month’s featured agent to look at your work. Great opportunity and May’s Pitch Day is the 29th, so don’t miss out.
Toni McGee Causey blogged over at Murder She Writes about her experience with the recent flooding in Louisiana. What Would You Take With You really made me stop and think about what exactly I would grab if I had to pack up my car and vacate my home. Seriously deep stuff. (LOVE Toni’s books! Check out the review I did for Charmed and Dangerous over at Petit Fours and Hot Tamales Blog).
When I read the title of this post by Kottke.org, I thought it was going to be a fun fluff piece. With the title, The Biggest Wave Ever Surfed, I had to read on about Ken Bradshaw who rode (at that time) the biggest wave ever surfed. Even with this accomplishment, Ken’s thought was “Shit, I should have faded.” You can read the whole article at Vanity Fair. Even though the article didn’t foot stomp this thought, it did make me think about how many times I’ve been in a position where I’ve been doing something or experiencing something GREAT and all I could think about was why I wasn’t doing something else or doing it another way. Food for thought. Food for thought…
That’s my trip. Anyone have another post they would love to pass along?

Wow, you must’ve been online for hours! That’s a lot to process.
Hey Carol! Yep, that’s what happens when I’m home sick for three days… ;-( I had too much of a headache to read for a very long time (which happens when I get engrossed in a book) and was not able to concentrate on my WIP. So I did the next best thing…grin… This way I could read in short bursts.
My Google Reader also helps…
Hope you enjoy some of the links.
