Blog Update
Wow. I can’t believe I’m in my last month of classes for the Spring semester. I’m already signed up for Summer and Fall classes so my college experience is FAR from over. BUT, I’m seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, it’s a year-long light…grin…. Still, it’s there.
I have to laugh about a comment I overhead at work the other day. I was walking to my car when I heard a man complaining about his trip to Florida and being kept awake all night at his hotel by all those “damn college students” down there on Spring Break. His comment made me smile. At my age, it’s kind of funny to be linked with “those” damn college students (even though I didn’t actually get to enjoy that kind of Spring Break…).
After the accident last week, DH and DS are doing great. DH is a really bummed about the car, though. We’ve been talking to the body shops and are finding out just how much damage happened. This is so strange because the parts that were hit are plastic and doesn’t look that bad. I’ll keep you posted. DS now has a new fish to replace the one that was lost because of the wreck. Fish and boy are doing great…grin…
Now on to the blog recommendations. As you can tell from the second week in a row of doing this, I LOVE the idea of sharing some of the sites I’ve found useful. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
- Murderati – checkout the post by Pari on 3-30-09 – She listed 5 things she’s learned (as a writer). Her “you’ll be a has-been before you ever become a does-have” really hit home with me…
- Stay at Murderati and check out J.D. Rhoades post entitled A Little Jolt for some tricks to getting past writer’s block.
- Gena Showalter and Jennifer St. Giles are having a Blog Party on their blogs. Check out the awesome recipes and to-die-for drinks. (The books are pretty good, too….grin…)
- NEW Blaze Blog – I love Blaze stories and it’s even better when you get to read notes from the authors who write them. Check out this brand new blog…
- Pink Heart Society – on 4-2-09 Donna Alward wrote an awesome post on Where your characters live. Talk about some neat insight.
- Stay at Pink Heart Society and check out Fiona Harpers post on Friday about the movie, The Lake House. I just LOVE this movie. Sad that I never put it on one of my top 5 lists. I really should have as it is right up there…
- Just for fun, stop over at the Wet Noodle Posse. Mo H did a neat post 4-2-09 on 5 Ways to put a spring in your step. This was just a fun post to read.
- Murder She Writes – Karen Tabke did an interview with Theresa Meyers on Self Promotion. Definitely some good stuff there!
- HelenKayDimon, Jill Shalvis and Allison Kent have a contest with some fabulous prizes offered. Check them out!!!
- And last but certainly not least, check out the Petit Fours and Hot Tamales blog. Our guest blogger on Friday was Margie Lawson and she wowed us with some eye-opening information in First Page Lightening. I have printed two copies of that post. This Friday we have the fabulous Missy Tippens guest blogging with us. And that doesn’t even take into account the awesome ladies who blog each day on a wide range of topics that are running me out of ink for my printer…grin…
So what have you guys been reading? Anything fun?
ps – And for anyone who watched the CMA awards last night – Matthew, I REALLY want to see those boots…grin… (you have to have watched the last part to get this…but it was too good to pass up!!!)

Sorry to hear about the accident! I’m glad they are okay. Thanks for all the great links. I love the Blaze blog as well. As for recent great books? I’ve read Kristan Higgins has to offer, as well as a couple of Sarah Mayberrys. I’ve got the backlist for Tawny Weber on its way from Amazon. I reviewed one of her books a while ago and loved it, so I’m really looking foward to starting on those. Well…off to write!
Just finished Stephanie Bond’s 4 Bodies and a Funeral. It was great. Can’t wait till book 5!
Hey Ladies,
Great recommendations. I’ve got Stephanie’s on order, but I will definitely look into the ones Devon mentioned also. I am always looking for a new author to read!!!
I do love that Blaze blog. Have already bookmarked it as a favorite!!!
