Part 2
Is everyone de-cluttered??? Like I said, it doesn’t have to be done in a day. For some people, it can take the whole month. And for others, it will never be completely done. But a little goes a long way to reducing stress (for me anyway).
My next phase in the goal making process is to reevaluate my current year’s goals. This is the time where I pull out the paper I originally wrote them down on. I always leave enough room in-between to make notes throughout the year. This is when I determine if I’m going to give myself some leeway. Yah, yah. I know it’s easy to give yourself credit here and there. It’s also easy to lie to yourself. This is the time for honesty.
Yes, I wrote down that I would kick up my exercise program a notch. No, I did not meet this goal. In fact, I failed miserably at it by actually not exercising at all this year. So this one will be revised and added to 2008’s list. See? Honesty. I know it sucks, but if you can’t be honest with yourself, then who can you be honest with?
So, here is your assignment for this week. Go over the goals you set for 2007 and see which ones you met, which ones you want to toss out (because lets face it, some of them should never have been written down in the first place – see earlier post about Jon Bon Jovi), and which ones you want to move to 2008. If you didn’t set any goals for 2007, then reflect on the things you did do this year.
How’s it going so far?

I need to put my goals in writing (other than on your blog). I will work at actually getting them written down this week.
Hey Walt,
You might want to do that. Especially for your writing. I’ll address this in my next weeks blog, but Anna DeStefano had us write down our writing goals for 2007 in January and seal them in an envelope. We plan to have a small get together and open them and share with each other how we did.
This might actually be a good writing assignment for a critique group to do….
Tami
Not a bad idea. At this point, though, I only have a critique partner as opposed to a whole group. I should send her a complete list of writing goals for 2008.
