“Alzheimer’s disease causes brain changes that gradually get worse. It is the most common cause of dementia – a group of brain disorders that cause progressive loss of intellectual and social skills, severe enough to interfere with day-to-day life. In Alzheimer’s disease, brain cells degenerate and die, causing a steady decline memory and mental functions.” (taken from the MayoClinic.com on Alzheimer’s Disease)
As many of you know, my dad has suffered with this terrible disease for many years now. Not only has it affected him, but it has affected everyone whose lives he touched. As he progressively gets worse, it continues to be a major part of my family’s lives. I know that nothing we do now can help him, but maybe those in the future can be spared. Not only am I looking at my future, but I am also looking to the future of my son and any children he might have.
Take a moment and think about how this disease could affect your family. Say a prayer for those who are touched by Alzheimer’s and thank God if you have not been.

This is fitting. September 23 is my mother’s birthday. We lost her to Alzheimer’s Disease almost seven years ago. I’m wearing the purple shirt I received last year from the Memory Walk.
Good Morning! So very sorry about your mom. I’m actually doing an Alzheimer’s walk/run in November. Not sure if this is the same type of thing, but I do hope that it does spread awareness and maybe even helps find a way to cure this crazy disease before too many others have to live through this.
Thanks so much LD for stopping by. My thoughts are with your family.
Hugs
