I’ve been going through pictures this past week, looking back on the fun things we were able to do so far this year. The first quarter of the year we took three different trips. If you can't tell, I LOVE to travel. :)
We had several more trips scheduled for this second quarter. Unfortunately, those are not going to happen. We’ve had to cancel several trips due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some as far out as June and July. No one knows how long this shelter-in-place directive will last, yet some companies are anticipating it being in place much longer than the news is predicting.
I hope they’re wrong. I understand, really I do. But all the cancellations have highlighted just how easily our lives can change at any moment.
One of the many changes in our lives is the ability to go to a local restaurant. Yes, we can grab takeout and bring it home. But we can’t go someplace, sit with our friends, and enjoy a meal or a drink.
As I flipped through pictures on my computer, several trips to a favorite craft beer bar kept popping up:
https://tapandpour.com/
We discovered this fun little bar located a few miles from the Air Force Base back in November.
It’s located at the end of a little strip mall, so definitely out of the main traffic. I'm guessing that's why we never discovered it until recently. :)
One of our friends found it after looking at the Yelp reviews, trying to find a new-to-us place to grab a drink and some good food. Tap and Pour had a lot of really good reviews for both the beer and the bar grub.
Also, as soon as I posted some pictures on Instagram, several of my local friends pointed out that they had been coming for a while and it was one of their favorite places, too.
This really is a cool little place to chill. It's small, so you can walk in and grab your table. One thing different is that You have to go up to the bar to place your order for both the beer and the food.
They also have a really neat outdoor area where people can bring their pets.
We've been a number of times since discovering this gem. We've gotten to where we will grab a table and the menu.
After mulling over the ever-changing selection of craft beers, some of us will go up and grab the beers.
Rock-paper-scissors!
Then after some more menu reviews, we go up and place our food order. (Note: They do bring the food out to the tables.)
One of our favorite appetizers is the Pork Rinds:
And either the Bar Fries or the Poutine:
You can't go wrong with the wings:
We have pretty much tried (and loved) all their burgers:
And even the Pork Belly Torta:
And MY favorites, the different varieties of tacos:
As much as I have enjoyed the food, this place is all about the craft beers. We’ve been lucky enough to try many different flavors and have found quite a few favorites. I love sampling different ones with their flights:
But so far, my favorite is the Pinch of Salt- Salted Caramel Gose:
This is a sour beer with a hint of salted caramel. The flavor is not overwhelming at all. And I tend to grab this one each time we visit.
This seriously is a cool place. I know there are a lot of craft beer places. But I haven't been to many that had great food and great beers. Plus, this place is not overly loud. I've been to a few where the acoustics are overwhelming and I can't wait to escape. But even when this place is packed, it isn't over the top loud that I don't want to sit and savor my time with my friends.
I’m hoping they make it through this crazy pandemic. I know a lot of the smaller businesses are not sure if they will come out on the other side. But my money and hopes really are on these guys.
Tap and Pour really does have an incredible vibe and my friends and I are already planning a visit for our first official outing once we’ve been released from this shelter-in-place order.
Maybe we will even make it for Tuesday Trivia night... :)
And maybe I will see YOU there, too.
Cheers!
Tami

Those fries look incredible! Would love them with a flight of beer. These craft beer places are some of our favorite too. Thanks for the review and the mouth-watering photos.
Hey Erica! They really are. Just the thought of those incredible spices and cheesy flavor have my mouth watering again. 🙂
