What have I read?
This has been a productive two weeks in the reading category. With all the physical work we are doing, writing has been put on the back burner. So, I’ve thrown myself into reading. A lot of reading…
One of the books I’ve read is Beastly by Alex Flinn. This is a modern day (YA) take on the Disney story, Beauty and the Beast. I really enjoyed this story. From the anonymous chat room designed to help misfits and filled with Disney characters living out their own stories to the bind tutor and doting housekeeper who want to see him succeed. Beastly is a story about the good looking guy who suddenly has to figure out how to get a girl to love him when he’s lost everything else.
This is the Beast’s story. And you are gonna love it. (I haven’t seen the movie yet, but I’ve heard it is a bit different than the book. Will let you know after I’ve seen it.)
Couldn’t pass up posting a YouTube trailer…
I also read Hainted Love: The Ghost Handlers Series #2 by Maureen Hardegree. This is a super fun YA book with a fourteen year old character that is more real than a lot of people I know in real life. Ms. Hardegree did an amazing job of bringing Healther Tildy to life and made her task of helping a handsome teen ghost move on one the reader didn’t know which way to root for. Did we want her to do her job and help accept his death or did we want the two of them to end up together as boyfriend and girlfriend. I know, sounds odd but the author did an incredible job of making me want the BF/GF option…
This is a story that is fun to read, whether you are a teenager or a grown adult. I can’t wait to see what problems Maureen Hardegree has in store for Heather in book #3. Check out the review I did last year for book #1, Haint Misbehavin.
What am I Reading Now?
I just started reading Pink Boots and A Machete by Mireya Mayor, Ph.D. This is an awesome biography of a woman dubbed as the female version of Indiana Jones. Way cool. I’m just a few chapters in, but the story is compelling and hard to put down.
Check out the YouTube trailer below…
I also started reading Midnight Caller by Leslie Tentler. This one is about a late-night radio-show psychologist who is getting creepy calls from a stalker obsessed with her long-ago murdered mother. In steps an FBI agent who might be a bit more linked than just his interest in her case…
Yowza. Couldn’t resist this one.
That’s me this week. What are you reading???

I read Leslie Tentler’s Midnight Caller and really enjoyed it. Haven’t read Maureen’s books yet. Will have to check them out. So many books, so little reading time…
Oh man, Carol! You have to read Maureen’s books. If you like YA or Middle Grade, these are very sweet stories. Fun too. I can’t wait to see what she writes next.
I’m looking forward to Midnight Caller. Have two more books ahead of it in the queue but will definitely get to it this next week.
Thanks for stopping by!
Tami
I love the looks of A Midnight Caller. Just What I need -a good scary twisty book!
