England - In December… You know what that means???
CHRISTMAS MARKETS!!!

We headed to Manchester a couple of years ago for a work trip and I was super excited to experience another Christmas Market. The year before we had visited the Budapest Christmas Market and it was amazing! This time, I was prepared with an extra suitcase.
The very day we flew into Manchester (after dropping off our luggage at the hotel), we headed out to explore.
All I can say is WOW! The Manchester Christmas Market did NOT disappoint.
The decorations were BEAUTIFUL! Everywhere we turned, there were lights twinkling from each booth.
I have to add a note here that it was extremely hard to walk through the Market as a group that first night (it was a Saturday). People were everywhere. My husband had a good grip on my hand and we had to wedge ourselves in between people. I am NOT great with crowds. Thankfully the rest of the week was not as congested and we had a much more pleasant time on our subsequent visits.
Which brings me to the food…
The smell of chocolate at every turn had my mouth watering. Normally I could just look and keep moving. But I found myself grabbing some fudge at one place, a truffle at another, and so many other wonderful treats.
The coconut macaroons were definitely my favorite (I think I tried five different flavors while I was there).
My second favorite thing was the Nutella Waffles. :)
As much as I loved the ambiance from the Market at night, I loved being able to really get a good look at it during the day.
While the guys were attending their conference, Chris and I checked out the booths. I ended up buying all of my final Christmas gifts. I even grabbed several other things as gifts for myself. :)
And you never knew who you would run into… Who would believe a whole group of firefighters would make an appearance?
This was only my second time visiting a Christmas Market and again, it was a wonderful experience.
The lights were magical. The scent of chocolate was enticing. The sound of Christmas was literally everywhere - from the musician playing on the corner, to the laughter of children as they chose their treats.
This really was an incredible experience.
Come back next week to check out the other things we did while in Manchester.
Cheers!
