Where have I been? I bet you’ve been asking that very question when you log in and see that I haven’t updated the blog for the past few days.
Let me just say that all the worry, stress and sleep deprivation that went into planning this conference was well worth it. I can’t even begin to explain the fun I had this weekend at GRW’s Moonlight and Magnolia’s Writers’ Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. I met a TON of people and made as many new friends. Just check out my Face book page and you can see all the pictures I took over the weekend.
Knowing I was going to be completely swamped and then have to come back and study for four of my midterm tests, my challenge to myself this week was to completely forget about my healthy vow of eating and to enjoy the decadent deserts I knew would be a major staple at the conference. Boy was I right. Every day I indulged in some kind of sweet concoction; starting with heavenly brownies on Thursday and ending with mini cakes at the Saturday night Maggie Awards.
Then when I returned home Sunday afternoon, I was surprised by my DH and DS with a yummy steak dinner (including all the fixings to go along with it) that wrapped up with a wicked Strawberry New York Style Cheesecake.
It was pure heaven. I’m glad I gave myself permission to enjoy this other facet of the conference as well as the more obvious reasons I originally went for.
Come back throughout the week for a glimpse into some of the fun things we did. In the meantime, I hope you are considering challenging yourself to try something new. I can’t stress how much these small things can enhance your life.
