Gallo Family Cafe Zinfandel - ABV 9.0%
Located in the Modesto, California area.
The E&J Gallo Winery was founded in 1933 by two brothers who started out traveling the countryside selling grapes from their family’s vineyard. After doing some research on the winemaking business, they later borrowed money from a mother-in-law to start their own winery.

-Sweet, fruity, smooth
Verdict - I really liked this Cafe Zinfandel. This yummy, semi-sweet wine is delicious. I fear that with how smooth it tastes and how easy it goes down, this could be a dangerous combination. I also liked the idea that it was not that high in calorie count. 105 calories for 5 oz. :) :) :) https://www.livestrong.com/article/339194-calories-in-gallo-cafe-zinfandel-wine/ I do admit that I wasn't able to pick out the specific fruit flavors that others have noted. I got more of a mixed berry flavor, rather than the raspberry or watermelon that others have noted.
I have definitely added this wine to my wine shelf as a go-to bottle to grab when having company over whose tastes run to the sweeter side. Although it hasn't beat out my favorite White Zin, I do love mixing things up a bit and enjoying a bottle of Cafe Zin.
Fun Note: When doing research on what Zinfandel meant, I learned they are doing DNA tests to determine exactly where the Zinfandel grape came from. It can trace its heritage all the way to Croatia.

In the 1820s, a horticulturist in Long Island received a shipment of grape vines from Vienna. From there, they made their way across the country during the California Gold Rush. And the rest is history!
How cool is that? DNA for grapes… And I thought my subscription to Ancestry.com was cool. :)
Cheers!
