I felt sophisticated drinking this yummy mimosa, yet there was NOTHING sophisticated about it. :)
This drink was super fun to make. Another Total Wine & More recipe, as soon as I saw the video on how to make it, I knew I was going to change it up a bit.
Where it called for apple cider, I switched that with a hard apple cider. This turned it up a notch.
-Apple flavor with a kick!
-Caramel vodka made it slightly sweeter than the vanilla - both were excellent
-Bubbly goodness that ticked my nose when I sipped
-Sophisticated feel (then I licked the sweet caramel coated rim)
We were looking for something fun to drink with our breakfast on the last day before we closed up the pool. We drank our coffee while watching the sunrise, then hubby made my favorite spicy egg scramble (see the link to recipe below).
While he cooked, I went to work coating the rim of the glasses with caramel and cinnamon sugar. As you can see, it does pay to grab a thicker caramel sauce. Our fingers were super sticky by the time we finished these drinks. But it was well worth it. They were slightly sweet, with a bit of a kick from the hard apple cider.
Definitely hit the top of the yum meter.
Caramel Apple Mimosa
-2 tbs caramel
-2 tbs cinnamon sugar
-1/4 cup hard apple cider :) (Tami’s secret change)
-2 oz caramel (or vanilla) vodka
-1 bottle of sparkling wine
-Sliced apple for garnish
1) Pour caramel sauce onto a dish and dip glass to coat the rim of the glass.
2) Pour cinnamon sugar onto a dish and dip the caramel-coated glass into the sugar mixture.
3) Pour the hard apple cider and vodka into the glass.
4) Top with the sparkling wine.
5) Garnish with a slice of apple.
(Side note - too much caramel is not a great thing (I know, crazy words…). But mine ran down the sides of the glass making it hard to hold without getting sticky.)
See my husband’s recipe for this super healthy Spicy Egg White Scramble (for this one, we did one full egg - with yolk - and one egg white):
