I was looking for a super refreshing drink for sipping while sitting by the pool. During one of our golf trips, we tried this amazing Moscow Mule at the club restaurant. And wow was it refreshing. This is definitely going into our summertime recipe book.
What do you need?
-2 Oz Vodka (drink serves two cocktails :) )
-4 oz Cold Ginger Beer
-Juice from half wedge of lime
-Ice
-Moscow Mule Copper Mug
-Wheel of lime for garnish
-Sprig of Mint
Mix the Vodka, Ginger Beer, and lime juice together with a spoon.
Add ice to the copper mug.
Pour drink in to mug (Note: You can mix it all in the cup. But when making two drinks, it is easier to mix in a larger drink mixer.)
Garnish with lime wheel and mint.
We actually pressed some of the mint leaves into the drink to add a little bit of a minty taste to the drink.
Grab a seat by the pool and enjoy.
Addtl Note: Hubby and I tried to make this without the copper cup. It tastes okay, but we couldn’t duplicate the taste from the golf trip. So, we bought the cups and mixed the drink again. Honestly, I believe it does make a difference. Everything tasted crisper and the lime and mint stood out much great.
But why?
I had to find out what the use of the copper cups did for this drink.

From what I read, it’s a tradition that makes the drink colder (longer) and because of the acidity and the copper, brings out the sharpness of the lime juice. The handle of the cup keeps your hand from heating up the cup. And the drink cools down the rim of the cup, so you get that cool feel each time you take a sip.
Okay. I’m sold. Hope you are, too.
Enjoy!
